Liz needed a headshot photographer in Southampton to take some empowering images to mark her return to work after her maternity leave. Initially, she thought about some shots at home or a local cafe, but after our discovery call, we decided on Ocean Village in Southampton. I’d previously done a fab shoot there and felt that Liz’s personal brand would be better reflected with a stronger background that encapsulated the brands she works for.

Headshot Photographer in Southampton - The Shoot
As a natural light headshot photographer in Southampton, I’m always weather-watching. A dry but not too sunny day is perfect for me, it gives a natural soft light that’s fab to work in. So when shoot day arrived I was very happy that’s exactly what we got. I met Liz for the first time and I took her off to some of the old buildings at Ocean Village.
They made a grand backdrop, and even Liz said “Wow look at the background” when I showed her the first few images. I knew she understood the importance of how the background can bring a certain ambiance to her headshots. One of my passions (or is it OCD) is the background, it sets the tone for the shoot.
With a quick wardrobe change and a chat about ‘Is pink a good business colour’ we found a great iron railing lined cut way. She was worried that a pink top wouldn't be business enough, but how wrong. The image I captured was so powerful, it was like a Dragons Den moment!

We had a fun-filled hour shoot, the location was perfect and gave us plenty of options, so Liz now has an amazing gallery of images she can draw from. I really love the shots I took for her and so did Liz, here's her first impression - "Alison these shots are amazing!!! You are so talented"
